Chris Owen specialises in corporate finance transactions including take-overs, mergers and acquisitions, reconstructions, public issues and securities regulations generally. He qualified at Slaughter and May. A fluent French speaker he works extensively with overseas clients on inward UK investment work and has considerable experience of acting on cross-border transactions.
Chris’ recent international work include advising the management team of a leading French construction company on a management buyout financed by a US Private Equity fund; the acquisition of a design business in the motor industry by a listed Norwegian group; on the sale of a Swedish based healthcare business to a large US healthcare group; on the sale of a leading IT network consultancy to a listed French IT consultancy; and on the acquisition by a NASDAQ listed US computer games company of a UK games developer.
His UK practice is focussed in the mid-corporate market (including fully listed and AIM listed companies). Recent work includes acting on the takeover of an AIM listed recruitment business, AIM admissions, an AIM take private, and on an on-market share purchase tender offer. Recent unlisted work includes advising on the sale of a leading PR consultancy, the establishment of an online internet gaming business, structuring a UK hedge fund and the sale of a jewellery and figurine retailer. Chris also advises a number of mid-market brokers on regulatory and security law issues.
Chris is considered to be one of the Best of the UK Leading Individuals in the Corporate Finance Mid-Markets according to the Chambers & Partners Guide to the UK Legal Profession.
