Joe is a barrister. His commercial chancery work has focused on all manner of contractual disputes, company law, insolvency and bankruptcy, civil fraud, misrepresentation claims (often involving real property) and conflicts of law.
Joe's landlord and tenant experience has involved all types of possessions, forfeiture, rent reviews (including mediations), restrictive covenants, easements and leasehold enfranchisement.
Joe has developed a particular interest in service charges having assisted in two of the most important recent cases on the subject: Edwards & Walkden (Norfolk) Ltd v The Mayor and Commonality and Citizens of London  EWHC 2527 (Ch)) relating to the provision for service charges in new business leases under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954; and the Supreme Court's landmark decision in Daejan Investments v Benson  UKSC 14 involving the dispensation of consultation requirements.
