Michael's practise covers a wide range of commercial and civil litigation.
His particular current emphasis is on professional negligence claims in the construction industry, other building contract disputes, the interpretation of professional indemnity cover and other insurance policies. He also works on disputes concerning guarantees and performance bonds, and claims against lawyers, valuers and other professionals.
Beyond these areas, Michael has formidable experience in commercial and civil work seen from the list of his reported cases in the Queens Bench and Chancery Divisions, Court of Appeal and House of Lords. The range includes partnership disputes, contested wills, real property, employment, clinical negligence and aviation. In April 2003 Michael appeared in the House of Lords (Actionstrength v. International Glass/St Gobain  2 AC 541) upholding the Statute of Frauds 1677 against a claim of estoppel.
Michael's advocacy experience extends across all divisions and levels of the Courts and Tribunals. He has a particular interest in cross-examination, especially of expert witnesses in areas of technical difficulty and complexity.
