Nicola has a modern commercial chancery practice with particular experience in personal and corporate insolvency, company law, fraud, real property and landlord and tenant.

Nicola is instructed as a junior and in her own right in high value litigation. Her clients include High Street and Investment Banks and Football Clubs. Nicola was instructed in long-running litigation concerning a dispute over beneficial share ownership, Singh v Anand and others [2006] All ER (D) 153 and more recently in the 10 week fraud trial in SITA v Serruys.

Nicola is regularly instructed on behalf of Trustees in Bankruptcy and Liquidators to advise in relation to specific applications under the Insolvency Act to recover property and thereafter to appear in court. She also has experience of jurisdictional disputes in an insolvency context.

In the Companies Court, Nicola regularly deals with matters arising from the presentation of winding-up petitions, such as applications for validation orders and for injunctions restraining the presentation or advertisement of petitions. Her reported insolvency cases include Kong and another v Inland Revenue and others [2005] All ER (D) 146 and Wade and another v Poppleton & Appleby (a firm) [2004] 1 BCLC 674.

In relation to property law, Nicola is frequently instructed in landlord and tenant matters involving both commercial and residential property. She also advises and appears in ‘TOLATA’ cases and has acted in cases involving adverse possession, easements and disputes between family members over beneficial ownership.
