Following a successful career as a legal academic at the Universities of Edinburgh, Liverpool and as a Fellow of Trinity Hall, Cambridge, Peter was appointed the first Professor of Law at Lancaster University in 1979, and later Chair at Brunel University law school. Besides his stellar academic career, he also acted as a consultant on employment issues and gained extensive experience in company training programmes.
Peter’s specialises in employment law, representing the full range of clients in the public and private sectors. His work overlaps into public law cases, and occasionally into education law. More recently he has commanded a reputation in mediation, particularly in high value employment cases.
Peter is editor of Butterworths Employment Law Handbook, an editor of Harvey on Industrial Relations and Employment Law and a contributor to Tolley’s Employment Handbook and to Supperstone and Goudie on Judicial Review. He has served as a part time Employment Tribunal Chairman since 2003, sitting at London East.
