Richard O’Dair specialises in employment law, with a particular emphasis on discrimination law, restrictive covenants and TUPE issues but also practices in the areas of commercial litigation and partnership law.
He appeared in the ground breaking decisions of the Court of Appeal in Brook Street UK Ltd v. Dacas [2004] IRLR 317 and James v. Greenwich Council [2008] 302. He appeared in Seldon v. CJW (currently on appeal to the EAT) on whether it is unlawful age discrimination if a law firm partner is subjected to compulsory retirement. He is currently instructed in a £3 million claim for breach of directors fiduciary duty. This summer he will appear in the EAT in Eweida v. British Airways (prohibition of the wearing of the cross as religious discrimination) He is a member of the A-G’s Regional Panel.
