Institute of Legal Executives are one of a number of organisations whose legal professionals contribute their expertise to our CPDcasts. CPDcasts are 30 minute downloadable Legal CPD Podcasts, each of which cover a specific CPD topic in extensive detail.
The following legal experts from Institute of Legal Executives contribute to our CPDcasts:
The Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX)is the governing membership body for 24,000 Legal Executives and trainee Legal Executives.
Its role is to enhance the role and standing of Legal Executives within the legal profession. It lobbies for change and improvements to the legal system on behalf of its members.
ILEX is recognised as one of the three core regulators of the legal profession and influencers of law reform.
ILEX also offers unparalleled access to a flexible career in law through its education courses at over 100 accredited academic institutions.
Legal Executives specialise in a particular area of law, which means that the everyday work of a Legal Executive is similar to that of a solicitor. Dependent on their specialist skills Legal Executives may handle legal aspects of property transfer, draft wills, give advice to clients accused of serious or petty crime, be involved in actions in High Court or county court or advise on matrimonial problems.
With extended rights of audience in criminal, civil and family proceedings, Legal Executive Fellows who train and qualify as Legal Executive Advocates can represent their clients in the County Court, Magistrate's Court, including the Youth Court and Coroners Courts, and in most Tribunals dependent on the area of law in which they practice. Legal Executives may also act as Commissioners of Oaths.
Legal Executive Fellows are now also eligible to apply for judicial appointments for District Judges and Tribunal Chairman. New emerging rights include the right to become a partner in a firm from 2009.
