This podcast aims to give the listener an overview of the AIFM Directive, which attempts to provide a tighter regulatory framework for hedge funds and private equity funds following the financial crisis. In particular, it examines the definitions provided in the directive for Alternative Investment Funds and Fund Managers before looking at the body of the regulation. In this podcast there is discussion of the key provisions in the directive, with a particular focus on the initial capital requirements, regulation and remuneration of staff, the rules regarding the depositary, valuator and liquidity standards.
