The CPDcast aims to examine the key stages of a dawn raid and what should be done to prepare for them and for when they are taking place
In this podcast, Patrick will be looking at the 3 stages of a dawn raid. The events that happen before a dawn raid, the key moments and principles of the raid itself, and finally the consequences of a dawn raid. In relation to the pre-raid stage, he will explain what is meant by a dawn raid, who can mount a dawn raid, when the raids normally take place, what can be done to prevent a raid and how one can protect oneself in the event of a raid and the key preparatory steps for doing so. In relation to the dawn raid itself, he will discuss what is likely to happen on the day, whether investigators can be told to wait, what powers the investigators have and whether they can take original documents. He will also discuss seize and sift powers, the role of LPP and the penalties for non-cooperation during the course of a dawn raid. Finally, he will explain what can be expected to happen after the dawn raid and what should be done in the days that follow.
