In this CPDcast, Neelam Sarkaria (an independent criminal justice consultant) and Detective Chief Superintendent Gerry Campbell (from the London Metropolitan Police Service) focus on domestic abuse. Neelam and Gerry will be looking at the issue of domestic abuse. Neelam begins by examining what the term ‘domestic abuse’ actually means, how it presents itself in different types of relationships and how you go about spotting signs of domestic abuse. Gerry then explains how cases of domestic abuse are investigated, how victims are protected and what domestic violence protection orders are. They then analyse how perpetrators of domestic violence are managed before looking at the role of other professionals in seeking to prevent domestic abuse.
