This podcast aims to offer a practical insight into the new immigration sponsorship regime for employers of skilled workers with a job offer in the UK labour market. It provides a detailed guide into the steps the employer is required to take in order to sponsor an employee and the duties which such sponsorship imposes. In addition, the monitoring procedures and sanctions which now apply to employers are examined and an assessment is made as to the scheme’s effectiveness in its first few months of operation.
In this podcast, a detailed analysis is made of the new immigration sponsorship scheme for employers of tier 2 skilled immigrants workers with job offers in the UK. The speaker looks at the procedure for applying for a sponsorship licence and issuing a certificate of sponsorship for a prospective employee. He goes on to discuss the system for grading employers under the scheme, as well as the duties placed on an employer who is sponsoring a tier 2 employee. Finally, evaluation is made as to the degree to which the new regime has achieved the government’s stated aims in relation to the employment of immigrants.
