This podcast aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to gambling law in England Wales. It looks at the key definitions within the Gambling Act 2005 and the types of activities which fall within the remit of the gambling legislation. The licensing framework is discussed in detail, with information provided on the application process, the types of licences which are available and the obligations imposed on licensees. Consideration is also made of the key legislative changes effected by the Gambling Act 2005, including the important statutory principles, the role of the Gambling Commission, the regulation of remote gambling and the reasons for the introduction of these reforms. Finally, there is discussion of the regulation of gambling in the international context, including questions of jurisdiction and the impact of EU and WTO law.
