Course Aims:

This podcast aims to introduce the listener to the law governing the protection of copyrighted material and design rights as intellectual property rights. It will examine the law surrounding each type of protective mechanism and what is required to qualify a particular work for protection. The podcast will also look how third parties might infringe a protected right and the consequences of breach.

After completing the course you will:
  • Understand when a copyright arises and what types of intellectual property it applies to;
  • Will have explored the definition of a creative or dramatic work;
  • Know how long and to what extent a copyrighted work is protected from unauthorised third party use;
