Course Aims:

This podcast provides an overview of 3 recent Court of Appeal judgments concerning the rights and obligations between landlords and their tenants. The cases address the status of a property and the right to enfranchise, the creation of a valid tenancy and a landlord's right to pursue an action against a corporate tenant in administration.

After completing the course you will:
  • Understand the meaning of "a house reasonably so called" within the meaning of the Leasehold Reform Act 1967;
  • Understand the circumstances under which a court will construe the creation of a valid protected tenancy;
  • Understand the restrictions on a landlord's right to seek redress against a tenant when the tenant is protected by the moritorium under an administrative regime.
