This podcast aims to give a broad, in depth insight into the rights and obligations of landlords and tenants as regards services charges for residential property. It provides an introduction to the statutory provisions which operate in this field while offering advice as to the relevant clauses which a lease should contain on the subject of service charges. The right of tenants to challenge service charges is also discussed and the approach and procedure of Land Valuation Tribunals is considered. Particular attention is given to other duties placed on landlords when undertaking major works or long-term agreements in relation to leasehold property.
