This podcast aims to provide an in-depth introduction to the rules governing jurisdiction in private international law, discussing the applicable principles in English domestic law, treaty law and EU law. Key English cases and legislation on jurisdiction are analysed, and the principles of forum non conveniens and lis alibi pendens are examined. Particularly detailed consideration is given to the provisions contained in the Brussels I Regulation, governing jurisdiction among the EU member states.
