In this CPDcast Jonathan Ford and Nicholas Scola from Linklaters explain the UK’s new competition law regime which came into effect on 1st April 2014. They explain how the UK’s two current competition authorities, the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) and the Competition Commission (CC), merged into a new body: the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). They also set out the CMA’s powers of investigation, its approach to enforcing UK competition law and changes taking place outside the structural creation of the CMA including mergers, the market investigation regime and the antitrust regime.
