This podcast aims to give the listener an introduction to the IHT treatment of UK based trusts. It does not address how offshore trusts or trusts with non UK domiciled trustees and beneficiaries operate for IHT purposes. It aims to distinguish the tax treatment of Interest In Possession Trusts from Relevant Property Trusts and how the various trusts for minors; A&M, 18-25 and Trusts for Bereaved Minors interact for tax purposes. Consideration is also given to the IHT status of disabled persons trusts.
This podcast is about the various categories of trust that can exist for the purposes of Inheritance Tax (IHT) and how those categories compare for favourable tax treatment.
This podcast is one of a pair on the taxation of UK trusts. To find out about CGT and trusts, click here: Introduction to the Taxation of Trusts - Capital Gains Tax
